Hanging Ones Waist

A Kerryman decided to commit suicide by hanging himself from a rope suspended from the ceiling. When his wife came into the room, he was standing on a chair with the rope around his waist.
'What are you doing?', asked his wife.
'I'm commiting suicide', said the Kerryman.
'Then why haven't you got the rope around your neck?'
'I tried that', said the Kerryman, 'but it was choking me'.
